RADIO Live @ HK College of Managaement on 10th October '09

The gig at HK College came all of a sudden and is over all of a sudden but I still could not manage to wake up before 7 pm the next day after all the screaming and jumping and frolicking; it was beautiful.
At first the venue didn’t seem like much but the sound set up was beautiful and we had a very supportive sound check and the organizers were sugar sweet. We had to stop sound check a coupl’a times when the nearby masjid had their azaan going on but that didn’t turn out to be a disturbing factor. What really bothered us there was the fact that most of our equipments sounded terribly funny on the stage amps and all we did for about two hours was fuzz play.
But we had to kick off without much delay so well, we toned down to the most acceptable sound and moved on. The crowd was placed miles away at first; I do not like this. Organizers please note, on a show, keep the crowd dead close to the band. They’re not going to beat us or spit on us – but all the more the venue looks filled up and dull off life. So we moved the crowd up front and hit off.
Two songs down and I broke my strings – I think it was after the Mila Humsafar solo; Couldn’t stop so continued playing the next song with a broken guitar. Somehow, managed to drag my riffs on the upper strings and pulled off a slightly rough but groovy Kashmakash and Freedom. That’s when I switched guitars with Sharad.
The sound from there was a little more relaxed. We had a run with our originals and Freedom, Musafir & Maya hit hard as usual. But I think as usual Tere Liye stole everything. I really do enjoy playing that song in colleges with beautiful girls in ‘em – Mithibai, K.J Somaya and no HK. They waved and they grooved and they make the song all the more worth it. Teri Chu is turning out to be much more of a crowd puller that what it was intended to be.
But honestly, I loved the way the crowd supported original hindi rock music. They were with us at every note and we had a lot of fun playing for them.
