Back To The Recorder !!!

Hey there,

I’ve just come back from Demonic Studios where RADIOs been busy recording its new single ‘Intezaar’ and I must say it sounds really good so far. We’ve changed our sound a bit from what our debut EP ‘Kachcha Nimbu’ had to offer and we’re planning on playing a whole new setlist comprising of new originals for all upcoming shows of the year. Of course, we’d still play Musafir and Teri Chu, but we’d be putting a pause on the rest for now.

Coming back to our studio trivia, we’re back to Demonic Studios with our man the Demonstealer Sahil Makhija producing our new single and the two songs we will be recording in January ’11 and releasing on line in Feb. Intezaar is almost done and we’ll be recording our infamous version of Kajra Mohabbat in about two weeks from now. Teri Chu has not yet entered the recording pipeline but it will soon, I think most probably in the next season around June when the big college fest start to happen.

Around a week ago we were approached by a very famous Indipop musician cum music director – I won’t say ‘Who’ but we’re in talks on a collaboration with him. As of now, all that they’ve laid on the table sounds stupid like most of what comes out of the Indian Music Industry but if all goes according to demand, we’ll be recording with him pretty soon. Prodigy – in India and an awesome lineup of acts opening for ‘em and its gonna be one hell of a show. In fact it is prety sad that these bands come down to India and do not play in Mumbai, damn the taxes, damn the terrorists and everything else that starts with a ‘T’ (aw shux, that’s what my name starts with).

As for us, well the brothers Adi and Alok are hogging on some ol’ Robot Chicken episodes and Sharad is busy stretching those vocal chords for the Friday recording and as for me, I’m not busy at all, just gearing up to pour down lots of booze for my girlfriend’s birthday tonight. Actually we all need a break. December wasn’t as chilled out for most of us with work and all and we’ve not gotten time to sit down on most of the new stuff we’ve written, but that’s all taking shape in January and schedules are working out finally.

In the meanwhile you guys could continue to write to us and listen to our songs from ‘Kachcha Nimbu’ at
www.myspace.com/radioreligion and please do find us on Facebook on the ‘Radioreligion’ community. Hope to be hearing from you guys soon enough….Stay tuned!

Rock. Love. Revolution - Part 1

The music scene is dying. And the culprits?Us.

We have become too lazy, impatient, confused, greedy & stingy to give even two minutes of our time to sit back and appreciate a good piece of art/music. And it wont be long till the time we find no good music out there...

For all of us music is such an integral part of life...what would you dance to at parties?what would you sing to your lover?what helps you get through a difficult situation or eases your pain?
what makes you believe?

For me music has been my savior...my god...my life...

And thats the reason why it hurts me too see it fading away...

The reason why I am writing this is because I have been on the other side...where I am a Musician..an artist..and there are few things which both sides can do to revive this..

To the Fans/Listeners/Supporters:

1. If you want to support the band/artist you like - BUY THE CD...how much do you pay?100?200?300?400? trust me it might seem a lot for something you can download for free from the internet, but the downloads are killing artists all over the world...it doesn't cost more than a night out...and its something which you can hold/possess for a lifetime!

2. If you cant afford it, its alright...but when you are downloading make sure you do it from the bands website/myspace link as most of the artists put it up for download on their web page, and if you like it then make sure to leave a comment there...its the least you could do to support the artist..

3. Full time Musicians have only 3 sources of income - Sales of CD/Royalty, Composing for ads/movies and live shows. If you are an organizer Please pay the artists well...for how long you will make them perform for free?? Thats why they end up quitting this line...And for the crowd, don't expect all concerts to be for free!

4. Support Original Music - Don't make the artist just cover other famous artists...might as well listen to them on you Mp3 player! What you can do is when you are going for a local bands concert/show, make sure you listen to their music online or buy the CD so that you are familiar with them beforehand, and Sing Along! Trust me its ecstatic when the crowd wants to hear your number and when they sing with you...

5. Criticize but don't kill the artist! Its very easy to sit at your home and write crap about some band and be unknown to them! I think those people are fucking cowards! If you really wanna be helpful please put it up in a nice manner...everybody learns as they move along and would really appreciate you if you put it in a right context...and then I am sure they will understand it even better..

6. Last but not the least - support Indian Artists! If you are an Indian, then this is YOUR team...if you cant support it then might as well get out of the stadium!I am not saying stop listening to foreign music, even i am a big fan of theirs...but Indian artists need more support from you...

Artists tend to put your heart and soul into making a song or performing on stage...

Please don't let them fade away...

Read the second part also if you are an artist...

MUSAFIR - The story behind the song

Well it’s not long since we started out as a band and astonished, surprised and euphoric are we for the response that our song ‘Musafir’ has been getting. Since so many people love the song, I thought I’d write you the story behind it.

Musafir happened a long time ago when RADIO wasn’t even a band. Most of our songs come from our real life experiences and Musafir was written when I was sitting in my college library studying for my Chartered Accountancy examinations.

But there are times in life when we are held down by things. We can’t do what we like, can’t be with people we like, can’t get hold of things we like, can’t go to places we like. The best thing to do at that point in time is to simply close your eyes and dive into imagination. Swim through your every want and desire. In your mind, you are second to no one. If you want money you pluck it out of a tree, if you want fame you grab it from the sky and love….well that doesn’t work with imagination now does it. You still search for it there. You create it; live with it….but it’s never close to you.

Musafir is a song about that place we go to; Where the world is yours, where life is colorful….and where you stand at the edge of happiness waiting for your loved one to come by and make you complete.

“Lagta hain sapno sa jahaan….main ek musafir hoon yahaan.”
